Epiphone Japan

This section only references Japanese Domestic Model guitars and does not include Japanese Epiphone export models. The Japanese domestic market (JDM) refers to the local market in Japan, mainly for Japanese-made motor vehicles and components. Within the guitar and instrument scene, this term, and the related term Japanese domestic model, most commonly refer to Japanese-made guitars and parts designed and constructed to conform to Japanese regulations and to suit Japanese market preferences and are not sold outside of Japan. Epiphone JDM guitars can vary greatly or only slightly from their worldwide distributed counterparts depending on the year and model. The most noticable difference is usually the use of the Gibson-style open-book headstock. Other models, such as the the Sheraton & Casino, are harder to recognize as JDM guitars. Other differences may include the use of different fingerboard inlays, tailpieces, lacquer finishes and hardware including pickups and tuners.
